Laser Boring, Horizontal Bed Boring & Underground Directional Drilling

Metro Civil Vic is an industry leader in underground directional drilling & horizontal bed boring. We are constantly engaged by numerous developers to use this technology to perform their required works due to the many beneficial factors this method possesses.

Laser Boring Metro Civil Vic uses Laser Boring as a method of micro tunneling when a laser beam is used to guide the drill. This system is highly accurate in comparison to traditional micro tunneling methods and is used in the installation of product pipe. This can provide accurate data on the ground conditions and indicate any changes that need to be made before installation.

Laser Boring is also beneficial as it allows for keyhole pipeline installation with little to no damage of the surrounding environment. It is ideal for complicated gravity sewer and water main installations requiring absolute on grade precision in varied and changing ground conditions.

Horizontal Bed Boring is ideal for shorter distances, such as under roads, driveways and pathways where a horizontal bore is required. Bed Boring equipment is relatively compact, so it is preferred in situations where access may be an issue.

Underground Directional Drilling or Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is used for installing watermains and service connections, sewer mains, drains, gas lines, telecommunications and power cable conduits. It is used for crossing waterways, roadways, congested areas, environmentally sensitive areas and any area where other methods are more expensive or not feasible.

The machine drills down to the desired depth and then is steered under the ground. Once the pilot bore is completed, a reamer/back reamer is attached to the drill and pulled back, enlarging the bore hole to easily accommodate the conduit or pipe, which is then pulled or pushed into place.

Metro Civil Vic, see this as a benefit over other techniques as it provides less traffic disruption, lower cost, greater precision and accuracy, deeper and/or longer installation, shorter completion times and also environmentally safe, reducing the carbon footprint.
